Neck pain is a very common condition, especially in those over the age of 50. Pain of the neck is the second most common reason for one to seek care from a chiropractor. There is an abundance of reasons why neck pain occurs. Some of the most common reasons include poor posture, spinal arthritis, neck sprains, and whiplash. Some less common, but more serious causes of neck pain are infection, spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), and rheumatoid arthritis.
Chiropractic can alleviate neck pain and reduce future episodes.
Tension Headaches: most common type, may be associated with muscle spasms and neck pain, typically occur in the afternoon/evening
Migraines: may be associated with an “aura” or spotty vision, as well as nausea and vomiting, may last 2-3 days, may be aggravated by light and sound
Cluster Headaches: least common type, may be associated with allergies, can last for 1-2 hours and occur 3-4 times a day, may awaken you from sleep, eye watering
Sinus Headaches: may be associated with pain in the cheeks and above the eyes, nasal drainage may also be present.
Many types of headaches respond to chiropractic treatment without the need for medication.
Sciatic nerve pain is often described as a “sharp,” “tingling,” “cramping” or “burning” sensation extending from the low back into the hips/ buttocks and sometimes past the knee and into the foot. Sciatic pain typically occurs only in one leg, but can be present in both legs. Sciatica can affect patients of any age due to a variety of causes.
Regardless of the reason a person is having sciatica pain chiropractic treatments can help eliminate the pain.
One of the most common causes of back pain is a bulging or herniated disc. These conditions can occur at a moment’s notice or gradually develop over time due to muscular imbalances and improper posture.
Before you talk to a surgeon or go to a pain management doctor try chiropractic. Chiropractic is less invasive than surgery and can often help you avoid taking addictive pain medications.
When most people think of whiplash, they think of neck pain following a rear-end collision, but the truth is, it can happen anywhere in the spine and from almost any angle or impact. The traditional whiplash occurs during a collision when a person’s spine is “jerked” too far backward and too far forwards, putting excessive stress on the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints which protect and hold a person’s spine together.
Chiropractors are experts at treating Whiplash
Many chronic injuries and pains develop as a result of repetitive stresses occurring in the work place. Line workers who twist back and forth for eight hours a day; warehouse employees who constantly bend over; and computer programmers who sit in front of a computer for prolonged periods everyday; are just a few examples of professions that require workers to repeatedly go through the same motions or prolonged postures that over stress the joints of their body.
Chiropractic is a simple way to treat these problems without the need of pain killers and muscle relaxers
